Some House Republicans celebrated Monday night’s Senate confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court by taunting Hillary Clinton, whose election loss to Donald Trump four years ago opened the door to three conservative appointments to the nation’s highest court.

Clinton turned 73 on Monday.

Six minutes after that tweet from the official Twitter account of the House Judiciary Committee Republicans, Clinton urged voters to have the last word.

Barrett was confirmed 52-48 along partisan lines, with Sen. Susan Collins the only Republican to join Democrats.

While the confirmation process for Barrett is over, the bitterness clearly has not gone away — and likely won’t for a good long while.

Democrats are said to be considering expanding the Supreme Court if they win control of the White House and Senate, and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said before Monday’s vote that Republicans may rue the day they rushed Barrett’s nomination through, just eight days before the presidential election.

“You may regret this a lot sooner than you think…for a lot longer than you think,” he said.
