KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. — InductEV (“the Company”, formerly operating as Momentum Dynamics Corporation), an industry leader in high-power inductive charging systems for electric vehicles, announced today that after largely prevailing in a 2020 patent lawsuit filed by WiTricity, it expects to prevail in a new suit filed by WiTricity.

In recent decisions by the Delaware District Court and the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“PTAB”), challenges to six WiTricity patents by InductEV were successful and resulted in the invalidation of those six WiTricity patents. These decisions demonstrate InductEV’s technology leadership in the high-power market. InductEV designs and manufactures high-power induction charging systems which are already in commercial operation, based on its own commercially proven, patented technologies. InductEV is not a licensee of WiTricity.

In response to the invalidation of six of its patents, WiTricity has now filed a second lawsuit, and the Company expects to prevail in this new suit. “We were pleased that the courts and PTAB recognized the spurious nature of WiTricity’s original patent challenge – deciding in favor of InductEV in both that case and in our countersuit where PTAB invalidated WiTricity’s “734” patent – aka “MIT-1″, a cornerstone of WiTricity’s IP licensing strategy. Yet we remain deeply frustrated at WiTricity’s continued, obvious attempts to slow our progress – and the pace of industry innovation – through its filing of nuisance lawsuits” said Rob Raymond, Board member and founding investor, and founder of RCH Energy. “We intend to take a more aggressive approach to protecting our IP in the U.S. and in international jurisdictions. We will not let patent aggregators like WiTricity prevent true innovation from reaching the market” continued Mr. Raymond.

“At InductEV, we make charging commercial electric vehicles simple, safe, and cost effective. Our charging systems are in commercial operation in 20+ fleets throughout the US and the EU delivering 1 GWh of energy at charging rates up to 300kW.” said InductEV Chief Product Officer Tony Calabro. “We are transforming fleet operations by dramatically increasing vehicle up-time while cutting capital and operating costs, and our backlogs are building.” continued Mr. Calabro.

ABOUT INDUCTEV
Founded in 2009 (as Momentum Dynamics) InductEV designs and commercializes fully automated inductive (wireless) charging systems for all types of electric vehicles, including buses, shuttles, light and heavy trucks and passenger vehicles. Our mission is to electrify and decarbonize the commercial fleets of the future. The Company’s systems enable unattended, hands-free charging with proprietary intelligent systems to optimize fleet energy management. For commercial vehicles, the simplicity of the InductEV system allows vehicles to charge while they are in use, avoiding the hours of vehicle downtime associated with traditional plug-in charging systems, and creating a safer, better charging experience.
