President Donald Trump and Mike Bloomberg traded barbs over Twitter on Wednesday, as the former New York mayor was getting ready for his first faceoff with his Democratic presidential rivals.

With Bloomberg one of six Democratic presidential hopefuls preparing to take the debate stage in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. Eastern, Trump asked if “corrupt” Bloomberg News would report “what a pathetic debater Mini Mike is, that he doesn’t respect our great farmers, or that he has violated campaign finance laws at the highest and most sinister level with ‘payoffs’ all over the place?”

Bloomberg tweeted back, “Impeached president says what?”

Late last year, the news service founded by Bloomberg said it wouldn’t investigate the ex-mayor or any of his rivals for the Democratic nomination, but would keep probing the Trump administration. The Trump campaign responded by refusing to credential Bloomberg News reporters to its events.

Trump also tweeted about stock-market SPX, +0.53% records on Wednesday, as he was preparing for a “Keep America Great” rally in Phoenix. He’s scheduled to stay the night in Las Vegas, and due to arrive during the Democrats’ debate.
